Job Title: Instructional Designer

Primary Purpose
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for supporting US Higher Education clients in all phases of online course instructional design, course mapping, course content creation and alignment. LearningMate is a global company with offices in the US, India, and London. This position will part of the US Higher Education Content team.
Responsibilities
As an instructional designer, you will be responsible for:

working concurrently on varied U.S. higher education learning design projects/courses;

meeting with client ID teams, course building teams, and faculty to design courses and to contribute to course content authoring;

sustaining collaborative and healthy relationships with our client partners;
-
analyzing a client’s LMS to make best use of its features and tools;
-
instantiating Backward Design, ADDIE, and Universal Design for Learning principles and techniques;
-
and leading and collaborating on course mapping and blueprint creation.
Essential Functions

Address courses in priority set by client teams
-
Assess curriculum needs, apply learning principles, and collaborate with client teams to arrive at best instructional designs
-
Create engaging instructional content and assessments; ensure content accuracy and alignment to learning objectives and rubrics

Ensure activities are appropriately and optimally designed for the LMS in use while also assuring that learning objectives -- and not what the LMS can do -- drive the instructional design

Follow client and project protocols and schedule for both communicating project progress and for escalating project impediments Ensure backward design and universal design for learning principles guide course development

Ensure ID deliverables meet client guidelines and defined acceptance criteria

Meet all deadlines according to the established timeline and schedule, including review, revision, and sign off periods

Help build internal, innovative work processes for virtual teams using the latest work tools (cloud-based workflow apps – Google Drive, etc.)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree backed by at least five years of experience in Learning Design in Higher Education; a master’s degree in Learning Design, Learning Systems Design, Learning Technology Solutions, Curriculum and Instruction Design or Content Development with at least three years of experience in higher education online course instructional design and development is preferred

Experience supporting faculty subject experts through course instructional design process

Experience aligning/mapping content and curriculum to outcomes and objectives

Experience authoring measurable learning objectives

Experience writing guidelines for faculty on teaching/understanding the course

Experience authoring rubrics

Knowledge of Learning Management Systems used in Higher Education

Willingness and ability to work flexible hours with minimal supervision

LearningMate has offices in India and USA and global customers. Coordination with the teams primarily in India would demand early morning or late evening calls/meetings

Proficient in MS Office, Google Applications, modern business tools, communication tools, mobile tools, presentation tools for virtual teams (i.e., Google Hangout, Zoom, Skype)

Work environment is primarily indoors at home, with minimal to moderate noise and no exposure to environmental elements

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands to operate computers and other office equipment

Occasionally lifts or exerts force up to 10 lbs
