Job Title: Instructional Designer

Organization: Frontier Nursing University (FNU)

Location: Lexington, KY

Frontier Nursing University (FNU) is currently seeking an Instructional Designer to join our faculty. The Instructional Designer provides expertise in online course development at FNU.  

 

Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
 

  • Works collaboratively with other members of the instructional design team to plan, execute, and evaluate results of ongoing projects and innovative initiatives.

  • Assists and works collaboratively with faculty and subject matter experts in the design, development, and evaluation of innovative approaches to enhance pedagogy and improve student learning.

  • Plans, facilitates, and evaluates courses, workshops, and other instructional modalities for faculty to enhance use of sound pedagogy and innovative approaches across the curriculum.

  • Evaluates, selects, and integrates technologies into instructional systems with a focus on educational innovation.

  • Works with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Instructional Design team to assess learning outcomes and best practices in current and future instructional systems.

  • Handles confidential information appropriately and exercises tact, sound judgment, diplomacy, and discretion.

 

Qualifications:
 

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in instructional design, education, or related field

  • Minimum three years experience in instructional design with proven skills in curriculum and course development and innovative learning experiences

  • Strong and impressive track record of planning, implementing, and evaluating highly innovative and creative projects and initiatives

  • Ability to translate creativity and passion for innovative course design to design of significant learning experiences for students

  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team member

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple complex projects, develop own work schedule, and monitor progress against defined parameters

  • Outstanding communication skills

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and best practices including distance education and innovative modalities

  • Proficiency in standard software and other technologies for instructional use

  • Proficiency in learning management systems (Canvas preferred)
