Georgetown University in Qatar (GUQ) is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for the position of Instructional Design Analyst.
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean for Teaching, Learning and Assessment, the Instructional Design Analyst is a key member of the Teaching, Learning and Assessment team within the Office of Academic Services (OAS), one of four separate but closely interrelated units within Academic Affairs, which also includes the Bachelor of Foreign Service Program, Faculty Affairs and Research Administration, and the Library. The Teaching, Learning and Assessment team works with faculty, students, and staff to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment across the university.
The Instructional Design Analyst will collaborate with faculty and academic departments to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate curricular material and instructional methods to support the learning goals of their courses and programs. The Instructional Design Analyst will thoroughly understand project design and project requirements, and serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.
Responsibilities:

Provide faculty and departments with support and guidance for course and curricular design including the formulation and assessment of learning objectives;

Collaborate with the faculty members to identify and implement individualized methods or strategies for integrating technology into their teaching and learning goals;

Work with faculty to gather student feedback on the effectiveness of curricula, teaching methods, and program offerings, using identified classroom and program assessment techniques;

Collaborate with faculty in the effective use of instructional technology and “best practices” methods;

Lead projects in the design of educational materials for identified needs, special projects, and online technology-enhanced education;

Conceptualize and implement broad solutions for the delivery of complex academic materials in a wide array of diverse subjects;

Demonstrated pedagogy understanding, consulting with faculty and other academic stakeholders to develop and implement advanced technology solutions in support of academic excellence;

Provide faculty support and development for educational technology tools such as learning management systems, Blogs, Wikis, the use of digital audio and video, and website development;

Conduct workshops and provide consultation on current developments and “best practices” in support of the integration of educational technology tools;

Collaborate with Faculty and Academic Affairs in the planning, development, and implementation of effective assessment models and tools (formative, summative, rubrics, etc.);

Establish project timelines, define project deliverables and implement milestones;

Plan and schedule design resources;

Collaborate with AV team and faculty to select the appropriate technology for the classrooms;

Support local components of the Blackboard LMS;

Provide consultation and expertise on matters pertaining to the distance learning initiative;

Contribute leadership and vision to campus-wide initiatives in traditional and online teaching, learning, and assessment;

Design training materials and opportunities for faculty;
-
Stay at the forefront of instructional design theory and technologies.
Requirements:

Masters’ degree in instructional design or closely related discipline or equivalent;

5+ years experience in providing instructional technology support in higher education;

Broad knowledge of pedagogical methodologies for course design, learning outcomes development and assessment, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning;

Good knowledge of current and emerging trends in educational and relevant technologies;

Experience as an educator or working with educators to support technology integration in course and curricular design;

Expertise in working with web-based courseware such as Blackboard, Canvas and Echo360;

Experience in one or more facets of design and delivery of online education is an asset;

Technical proficiency with classroom technologies and related equipment;

The ability to code HTML/CSS;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with members of the GUQ academic community.
