Penn State's School of Graduate and Professional Studies is accepting applications for an Instructional Designer 2 or 3 to join our growing online learning design team at the Great Valley campus, located in Malvern, PA.

The Instructional Designer (ID) will manage the development, design, and revisions for select graduate-level courses for World Campus and the Great Valley online course programs, reflecting a solid understanding of the pedagogical principles of accepted instructional design theories, principles, and best practices and assist in bridging the gap between instructors and learners. Candidates must have considerable instructional design experience, knowledge of online learning theory and pedagogical principles, strong written communication skills, and strong wordsmithing skills to enhance comprehension of written material.

A major component of this position is to lead large multimedia projects including digital content, graphics, animation, video, illustrations, and manage the multimedia instructional development center. The ID will serve as the lead multimedia specialist to support the integration of media into World Campus and Great Valley courses and be a resource focused on multimedia development for other ID's on the team. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of current and evolving web technologies/protocols, HTML, CSS, web accessibility (WCAG 2.0), web standards and best practices related to copyright. Experience working in Canvas, or similar content management system, is a must. Knowledge and related experience with creation of media for the web, as well as strong graphic design skills, are an essential part of this position. The candidate must be able to use advanced features of tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, Vyond and other web 2.0 tools.

Candidates must have strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills. They need to be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, pay attention to details, be self-motivated, work effectively in an open collaborative environment, and collaborate closely with faculty and other instructional designers. The instructional designer will use the team's project management system, follow standard processes, and contribute to ongoing improvement and documentation of the team's procedures.

This position will be filled as either a Level 2 or Level 3. This position requires a master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a Level 2. Additional education and experience may be required for higher level positions.
