Job Title: Education and Learning Specialist

The Industrial Research Institute, the leading association in the research, development and innovation field, seeks an experienced Education and Learning Specialist to join our team developing a new learning ecosystem for innovation leaders and R&D professionals. This ecosystem will play a critical role in IRI’s value proposition going forward by developing education programs in collaboration with volunteers, members, subject matter experts and others. The Education and Learning Specialist will design, develop, implement, produce, maintain and evaluate educational programs and products that meet the identified needs and interests of Institute’s members. He or she will also serve as the project manager on multiple programs, developing educational projects to include our Learning Management System and other online learning modules and instructional programs. He or she will be responsible for launching new initiatives and identifying gaps to create new educational programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Development:

Oversee the launch of our new self-directed learning engine.

Curate and organize IRI content to increase access by members.

Analyze the educational and practice needs of IRI members to identify needs and gaps in existing content and instructional resources.

Work with volunteers and subject matter experts to develop strategy, content and program delivery methods to create and deliver a diverse mix of educational programs in live and enduring formats.

Use instructional systems design (ISD) processes (both conventional and rapid, as required by the project parameters, budget and timelines) to develop online and face-to-face educational courses.

Independently plan, design, develop, implement, produce, maintain and evaluate educational programs and products, based on identified competencies that meet the needs of IRI members. Including but not limed to; face-to-face conferences and education courses, webinars, blended learning experiences, asynchronous online learning modules or other products.
Program Maintenance:

Continually review, improve and propose modifications of new and existing learning products. Enhance existing programs on an on-going basis to ensure their effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
Other Program Responsibilities:

Explore new products and tools to enhance eLearning. Maintain subject matter awareness to ensure learning product relevancy.

Create and maintain learning products in the Learning Management System (LMS).

Assist with short and long-term strategic planning related to IRI learning programs.

Coordinate with IRI’s marketing team to help develop all related marketing materials to conduct outreach for educational programs, and coordinate with other IRI staff and contractors to implement educational programs.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design/Technology or related field; significant relevant experience may be substituted for a degree

3+ years’ experience in online content development, training, presentations and/or facilitation.

Experience with instructional design methodologies, curriculum development within eLearning environments and software such as Adobe Captivate/Articulate Storyline 2.

Familiarity with/knowledge of industry trends and delivery methods; (i.e., eLearning, blended learning approaches, podcasts, instructional design, processes, learning management systems, certification tracking tools, etc.)

Background in adult learning principles, instructional systems design and instructional product development as normally acquired through a master's degree in adult education, instructional design, instructional technology or related field.

Learning Management System (LMS) experience.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, resulting in an ability to communicate effectively with committees, members and staff.

Well-organized and self-directed, with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Strong leadership skills to coordinate efforts of instructors, volunteers and staff and the ability to function in a team and service-oriented environment.

Experience with accessibility laws and guidance (508, ADA, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0)

Familiarity with basic office software programs, including Microsoft Office. Knowledge and experience with iMIS is a plus.
