The Position
The Director of Curriculum and Learning Development is responsible for ensuring BICSI’s mission as the worldwide preeminent source of education for the information and communications technology community (ICT) is accomplished. The incumbent is responsible for crafting and execution of the educational product strategy for the organization. The product portfolio is developed in conjunction with the Educational Advancement Committee (EAC), internal stakeholders and external partners. This position leads the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of training programs for certification preparation and professional development for multiple designations serving the needs of the global ICT community. The Director of Curriculum Development and Learning sets direction and provides general oversight, leadership and technical direction for BICSI’s Learning Management System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Spearhead the development of BICSI’s overall curriculum development and learning portfolio, including shaping the future in such areas as content, delivery, and globalization.

Lead the training strategy creation and execution for all educational products.

Plan, direct, and coordinate learning objectives and instructional strategies including developing the best methodologies for training delivery (i.e. online, classroom, etc.)

Direct the operations of the company’s learning management systems.

Develop, implement and lead strategy for certification preparation materials and continuing education materials to support global certifications and others, as appropriate.

Provide instructional design and project management expertise in the conception, design, development, deployment, and maintenance of learning solutions.

Implement instructional technologies (e.g., e-learning) to increase training accessibility and reduce expense.

Develop and deploy global training strategy in support of long-term business objectives.

Drive the development and maintenance of product portfolio, online course libraries, and supporting materials such as job aids, student workbooks, toolkits and ensure they are kept current.

Develop and manage the department budget. Demonstrate sound fiduciary responsibility; interpret financial data and recommend contingency plans as needed.

Manage the identification and selection of technical subject matter experts.

Partner with functional leaders to determine training needs by target audience, and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop, validate and agree on accurate and appropriate training content.

Accountable for ensuring quality and consistency in the development of all training materials.

Continuously improve content development and training delivery effectiveness through formal assessment and evaluation of BICSI courses utilizing best practices in adult learning.

Develop solid understanding of current and new processes and their impact on end user groups to determine fit/gap of training materials and develop best practice process for inclusion.

Remain abreast of industry trends in education and on competitive landscape.

Manage, coach, mentor and develop a high performance team.

Cultivate a team environment, lead and develop staff to enhance skills, knowledge and abilities.

Position Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Instructional Design, or a related field directly applicable to this role. Bachelor’s degree in Education Leadership, Instructional Design or a related field directly applicable to this role required.

Seven or more years’ experience with direct oversight of curriculum development and evaluation required.

Seven years or more relevant experience in product/program management/development, education/certification preparation.

Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) and knowledge of international markets preferred.

Four or more year’s supervisory experience required.

Association/not-for-profit experience a plus.

Experience in designing and developing continuing education development programs, with experience in the original creation of programs and evaluating programs using appropriate methods for curriculum validation and adult learning theory.

Demonstrated ability to design, develop and implement a broad array of professional development programs and instructional materials; knowledge of current training/development research and state-of-the-art training practices.

Solid knowledge base within area of expertise as evidenced through established curriculum development programs, publications and/or recognized accomplishments and certifications.

Prior experience transforming training organizations to achieve improved quality and efficiency goals.

Strong proven track record of measuring and reporting training effectiveness and the impact to the business.

Strong PC skills and expertise in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), MS Visio, MS Project or equivalent, Learning Management Systems, Cornerstone on Demand preferred, Customer Database systems, Author tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Captivate, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Reporting Responsibilities: The Director of Curriculum Development and Learning reports directly to the Vice President of Professional Development and supervises a team of instructional designers.
