ActiveFlex Designer - Contract
Organization: Athens State University
This is a grant funded position. The ActiveFlex Designer will be responsible for assisting the university in the design and development of courses chosen to be delivered in a ActiveFlex modality. The ActiveFlex Designer will collaborate with designated ActiveFlex faculty and ATLIS design and development staff to create active learning experiences for ActiveFlex courses along with any training and development activities that would be associated with effectively running ActiveFlex courses. Additionally, this person will be responsible for aiding and assisting in research activities associated with the ActiveFlex courses that are developed and delivered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
·Works with ATLIS to create and complete a plan for the development and delivery of ActiveFlex courses specified by the RPED grant. o Assists in creating a development schedule for specified ActiveFlex courses. o Assists in monitoring and documenting development progress o Assists in scheduling resources and services needed for design, development, and delivery of ActiveFlex courses · Designs and Develops ActiveFlex course content. o Under the direction of ATLIS Director, designs ActiveFlex course modules and experiences to be delivered through the University’s learning management system. o Works individually, and/or in collaboration with ATLIS design and development team to create new and engaging products and experiences for ActiveFlex courses o Works individually, and/or in collaboration with ATLIS design and development team to create graphics, videos, and other digital assets to be used in the ActiveFlex courses, multimedia, print, and web-based products. · Documents and shares the ActiveFlex design and development process. o Assist the grant PI in documenting the steps for designing and developing ActiveFlex courses. o Work with PI and ATLIS team to create design and development templates and guides that can be applied to other ActiveFlex courses.
· Other duties as required
o Assist in other work related to the RPED grant activities.
Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
• Bachelor’s degree, or within one year of completion of degree, in instructional design, a technology related field, or an education related field from a regionally accredited institution OR 3+ years of experience teaching in a K-12 or higher education environment.
• Demonstrated experience creating content in an LMS system
• Strong computer and technology related skills
• Successful creation and delivery of training sessions / materials
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences
• Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
• Master’s in instructional design or a related field or advanced experience in instructional design & development OR 5+ years of experience teaching in a K-12 or higher education environment
• Experience with Canvas Learning Management Systems
• Demonstrated experience in online course materials development
• Expertise in graphic design and multimedia software (i.e. Photoshop, Camtasia, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience in higher education
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills
