AC Transit's Training & Development Unit has an immediate opening for an intern who is a current college senior or graduate student. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for a student with significant coursework in instructional design, organizational development, or related discipline. The candidate chosen for this position will not only get excellent paid work experience, but also gain hands-on experience under the guidance of our Senior Administrator for Training and Professional Development. This position is located at the District's downtown Oakland office, and is only open to college seniors and graduate students who are currently enrolled in a Bay Area school. The intern must be able to commit to working 16-20 hours during the business week during regular semesters, and have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer and winter semesters.
Performs administrative functions to support the organization's Learning & Development activities such as, but not limited to: managing course logistics, maintaining and tracking enrollment records, managing the registration process, ordering supplies and organizing materials.
Acts as the on-site coordinator and support for classroom-based training.
With support and guidance from the Senior Administrator, completes special projects as assigned including, but not limited to: conducting needs analysis, development of curriculum materials, facilitating training and conducting course evaluations.
Develops informational job aides and tip sheets on topics relevant to professional development.
Establishes a process for Learning and Development library.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Current college senior or graduate student with significant coursework in instructional design, organizational development, or related discipline. (School must be local Bay Area college or university). Proof of current enrollment is required.
Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Previous professional work experience is not required.
Desired Qualifications: Positive and consistent customer service orientation. Pro-active idea contributor and engaged team member. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements: Must maintain the physical condition necessary to perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment. Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
Undergraduates are paid $17 per hour and Graduate students are paid $18 per hour.
