Job Title: Training Coordinator - Charting the LifeCourse Nexus, Institute for Human Development

The IHD is seeking an experienced and resourceful leader to become the Training Coordinator for the Charting the LifeCourse Nexus (Nexus). This role is highly collaborative and is a key contributor to the successful development and expansion of the Charting the Lifecourse Nexus training and knowledge translation goals.

 

The Nexus, housed at UMKC Institute for Human Development, is designed to support the “intersect of Charting the LifeCourse ideas, collaboration and transformation.”  As the definition of “nexus” implies, it is the central place that connects or links groups, things, and ideas together. The Nexus provides an infrastructure for stakeholders to engage with a growing network of implementers on the framework to learn from one another, share stories, and participate in opportunities to build one another’s capacity. In addition, the Nexus serves as a research center, partnering with people and organizations who are using CtLC as a lens to enhance and innovate existing resources, training, and practices, and/or to develop new promising practices, resources, trainings, or products. These innovations are disseminated through access to resources and materials, and providing training and technical assistance.

 

The CtLC Training Coordinator will:

 

  • Assist in the design, development and implementation of web-based and face to face courses and course tools as well as development and implementation of user’s training programs

  • Research advances in web-based course development technologies and make recommendation on products in instructional technology planning processes

  • Facilitate engaging training and development programs incorporating adult learning principles that are accessible and follow universal design strategies

  • Have the opportunity to work on the production of course ware and troubleshooting problems and create and disseminate communications

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs and develop products that engage a vast array of learning styles

  • Coordinate and maintain project work plans and team members to ensure completion of tasks

  • Offers recommendations to IHD leadership on the overall educational support function needs

 

Demonstrated relevant training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

 

  • Experience in instructional design, educational technology, distance learning, information science or related field

  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, multimedia applications and authoring tools for instructional purposes

  • Working knowledge of coding in the following languages HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript

  • Working knowledge of different authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and/or domiKnow 

  • Working knowledge of learning management systems, such as Blackboard, Canvas, Desire to Learn, Cornerstone

  • Training, staff development and/or teaching experience

  • Demonstrated written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with strong intellectual and analytical skills.

  • Strength in self-driven performance and initiative

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse learning populations.
