The Position

The Director of Training Delivery and Operations is responsible for all instructor-led training (ILT) delivery by both BICSI and authorized providers, and SME (subject matter expert) support to the department and membership to ensure that BICSI’s Mission as the worldwide preeminent source of education for the information and communications technology (ICT) community is accomplished.
 

The Director is responsible for the education delivery vision, strategy, revenue, action plans, scheduling and operational performance of all instructor-led training. This responsibility includes the global strategy and relationships with the authorized training provider programs. The training provider program management includes contractual agreements, qualifying and audits of these training providers and their instructors. The position is responsible for the logistics required to support the BICSI training and the product delivery strategy.  As the training resource leader, the Director will ensure the availability of Training Delivery Specialist (TDS)/SMEs, tools, test equipment and materials required to deliver BICSI provided training. This team will be the primary resource of technical knowledge for Membership, Curriculum Development staff and Credentialing in support of member continuing education credits (CECs).

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the delivery of BICSI’s and authorized training providers, instructor-led training and ensure the availability of resources to address the training demands with the highest delivery quality

  • Lead the strategy to deliver instructor-led training to the global ICT market in support of long-term business objectives.

  • Define the processes required to support and manage the TDS delivery model.

  • Define the processes required to support the authorized training provider services strategy.

  • Manage qualifying, contracts and audits for the authorized training providers.

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate staff in support of Sales and Business Development strategy.

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate staff in support of Credentialing for the member CEC program.

  • Manage all logistic for open enrollment classes including, class scheduling, site selection, TDS, materials, shipping, and facility contract negotiations.

  • Manage the mobile installation training requirements including vehicles, tools and materials.

  • Support the onsite class program including scheduling, instructors, materials and equipment logistics.

  • Develop the quality control strategy including audits and evaluations for facilities, instructors and class content (the total BICSI Learning Academy Student experience).

  • Plan and lead the inventory management process in support of training delivery.

  • Evaluate and select appropriate resources and negotiate contracts with vendors to support copper and fiber optic test equipment, hand tools, and consumables for the ICT Installation Program.

  • Manage SME staff to respond promptly to miscellaneous member and non-member inquiries regarding BICSI content, best practices and methods.

  • Maintain awareness of member technical needs and concerns and advise other departments.

  • Manage the identification, selection and coordination of subject matter experts to support the technical knowledge required for curriculum development.

  • Provide guidance on the development of supporting materials such as job aids, manuals and toolkits and ensure they are kept current.

  • Develop and manage the department budget. Demonstrate sound fiduciary responsibility; interpret financial data and recommend contingency plans as needed.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve training delivery by monitoring training completion and effectiveness.

  • Conduct formal assessment and evaluation of BICSI training delivery.

  • Manage, coach, mentor and develop a high performance team. Cultivate a team environment, lead and develop staff to enhance skills, knowledge and abilities.

  • Remain current on competitive landscape.

 

Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related degrees

  • Seven years of business management experience in training delivery and implementation, strategic planning, contract negotiations, and quality control with direct oversight of training delivery and evaluation required.

  • Four or more years of supervisory experience required. 

  • Knowledge and leadership of operations and logistics.

  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) preferred

  • Experience evaluating programs using appropriate methods for training delivery.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of organizational systems, needs assessment, design and delivery of evaluation measurements, cost benefit analysis and survey design related to training delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and implement a broad array of professional development delivery strategies; knowledge of state-of-the-art training delivery practices

  • Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles with diplomacy and tact; manage a variety of tasks simultaneously and interface positively with a diverse staff to accomplish organizational goals

  • Prior experience transforming training operations to achieve improved quality and efficiency goals addressing the needs of the market

  • Proven track record of measuring and reporting training effectiveness and the revenue impact to the business.

  • Association /not-for-profit experience a plus 

  • Knowledge of international markets preferred.

  • Strong PC skills and expertise in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), MS Project or equivalent.

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Strong contract/negotiation skills

  • Skilled in project planning, implementation, and management

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills. Ability to build strong rapport with business partners.

  • Work both independently and within a team.

  • Must be able to handle numerous projects at one time.

  • Must be a self-starter, requiring a minimum of direction for completing assignments.

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities on many levels externally and internally.

 

Reporting Responsibilities:  The Director of Training Delivery and Operations reports directly to the Vice President of Professional Development and supervises a team of Training professionals.

Travel:  Minimal (5% -10%).  Must have or be able to obtain a US passport for international travel.
